Words, as printed on the inner sleeve
Riverfront in May, and the shoulder went on at six
Our site between a sponsor tent and the river
Hickory in the firebox and the amps up on the deck
We hit the first chord at seven and we never quit

Two-twenty-five all night, and Lu wrote it down
Every hour on the hour, the same number in the log
The box went to the tent at noon, not a minute late
And the letter came at four

    Disqualified
    For unsportsmanlike conduct
    Disqualified
For the band on the trailer deck
They never said a word about the shoulder
    Disqualified

It is the ruling of this committee
    That amplified music while cooking
    Constitutes unsportsmanlike conduct
Three names at the bottom, and nothing about the meat

    No appeal
    The rep's word is final
Lu said the shoulder was right
    And the shoulder was right
    So we framed the letter
And we loaded out at midnight

    Disqualified
    For unsportsmanlike conduct
    Disqualified
For the band on the trailer deck
They never said a word about the shoulder
Best thing that ever happened to us
    Disqualified
