Low and Slow
The masterpiece. Recorded across eleven nights in a rented room above a feed store, with a shoulder on the smoker in the alley for every session. It smells like hickory. The archive has confirmed this with three original pressings.

Recorded between midnight and four in the morning. Lu Strickland checked the firebox during the guitar solo.
Words, as printed on the inner sleeve
Midnight on the gravel and the firebox is glowing Hickory split to forearm length and stacked beside the wheel Shoulder went on at six o'clock, it's got a long way going And the needle on the lid is standing still Don't you touch that damper Don't you lift that lid Two-twenty-five, all night long Thin blue smoke from the stack till dawn Not two-thirty, not two-twenty Two-twenty-five, all night long Lu keeps the fire log in a bread bag A number and a time on every line Ten o'clock, eleven, midnight, one o'clock Every one of them says two-twenty-five Don't you touch that damper Don't you lift that lid Two-twenty-five, all night long Thin blue smoke from the stack till dawn Not two-thirty, not two-twenty Two-twenty-five, all night long Three a.m. and the probe reads one-sixty And it's read one-sixty since a quarter after one That's the stall, and every rookie on the circuit Wants to wrap it up or crank it till it's done But we don't wrap it and we don't push it And we don't open up the lid to see We just play another forty-five And let it take the time it needs Anybody can run it hot Anybody can play it fast It takes all night to hold one number And a band to make the night go past Four a.m. and the probe just moved Thin blue smoke from the stack till dawn Not two-thirty, not two-twenty Two-twenty-five, all night long
